Ingredients

The Sticks
  • 6 thick slices Brioche or Texas Toast work best wax removed
  • 150 grams Nutella
  • 3 large eggs beaten
  • 80 ml Whole Milk for maximum crunch
  • 1 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 30 grams Butter for the pan
The Coating
  • 100 grams Granulated Sugar
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Method

  1. Prepare the Sandwiches: Spread a generous layer of Nutella on 3 slices of bread. Top with the remaining 3 slices to create sandwiches.
  2. Cut: Cut each sandwich into 3 or 4 uniform vertical strips (sticks).
  3. The Batter: In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  4. The Coating: In a separate shallow bowl, mix the 100g of sugar and cinnamon. Set aside.
  5. Dip: Briefly dip each Nutella stick into the egg mixture, coating all sides. Do not soak them too long or they will become soggy.
  6. Cook: Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Place the sticks in the pan and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy.
  7. Roll: Immediately after removing them from the pan, roll the hot sticks in the cinnamon sugar mixture until fully coated.
  8. Serve: Serve warm as they are, or with a side of fresh strawberries.

Notes

  • Bread Choice: Use slightly stale bread or thick-cut Brioche. Fresh, thin white bread will fall apart when dipped.
  • Keep Warm: If making a large batch, keep the finished sticks on a wire rack in a warm oven (200°F/90°C) to stay crispy.
  • Nutella Tip: If your Nutella is hard to spread, microwave it for 10 seconds to make it smoother.
